“Flamenco is an emotion, an expression of feelings, a language without words that speaks directly to the heart, inviting you on an unforgettable emotional journey, transcending the barriers of language and culture.”

Born in Malaga in 1983, in the El Palo district – the cradle of many international flamenco celebrities, from childhood he was imbued with passion and love for this style of dance.
DANCER AND CHOREOGRAPHER

Fran chafino

At the age of 10, he began training at the Professional Dance Conservatory of his hometown, where he completed his degree in Spanish Dance and Flamenco. During this time, he was lucky to be able to learn and perfect his technique with great flamenco artists and teachers such as Antonio Canales, Manuel Santiago Maya “Manolete”, Juan Andrés Maya, Domingo Ortega, Eva “La Hierbabuena”, Susana Lupiáñez “la Lupi” and Trinidad Santiago “La Trini”, among others. In addition, while he was completing his training, he collaborated with the Tourism Board of the Junta de Andalucía and gained experience in numerous tourist establishments on the Costa del Sol such as the Flamenco Tablao “los Tarantos” (Torremolinos), sharing the stage with the great dancer Trinidad Santiago “La Trini” and the multi-talented José Losada Santiago “Carrete”.At the age of 18 he performed as a guest artist in the Solera de Jerez show (Marbella). During this year he also performed at the Tablao Flamenco “El Tano” (Benalmádena), as well as worked as a Flamenco teacher in several dance studios in Malaga.
In 1998 he joined the Ballet Español y Flamenco de Carmen Mota, where he began his career in this well-known company as a dance corps, but in a few years, and taking advantage of his potential, he gained positions as a soloist and first dancer.
Performing in this Company he was chosen to go on world tours and develop his work on the most important international stages, in countries such as Holland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Russia, Israel, Lebanon, Cyprus, Qatar, Thailand, South Korea, China, Canada, Turkey, Libya, Monaco, Portugal, among others. Today, he works as a teacher at his own dance school in Tenerife and performs his own shows “A Compás”, “Mediterráneo”, “Olé” and “Amor Flamenco” which he presents on stages in the Canary Islands and European countries.

“MASTERSTICK, that’s how I would describe “A Compás” conducted by Fran Chafino and his band. It must be admitted that from the beginning to the last second of the performance, the viewer fully experiences each piece of music. A sentimental journey worthy of the best scenes. Excellent choreography, carefully selected costumes and perfect musical accompaniment make “A Compás” one of the best performances I have ever seen and enjoyed so deeply.

Roberto Herrera – journalist and presenter TVE

„Strength, energy, light, rhythm are the elements that most accurately characterize the extraordinary shows of Fran Chafino, who brings to the stage the soul of flamenco combined with a modern vision of dance. His body tense in movement, his hands measuring a compass, his face full of emotions, his eyes captivating the audience’s attention… they faithfully reflect art derived from deep, ancient roots. Each of his impactful performances moves the viewer deeply and sticks in their chairs. Chafino masterfully and with great expressiveness interprets the feelings staged by flamenco – love, joy, jealousy – expressing in dance its essence and pride of national identity recreated in a contemporary tone. Only such a great artist as Chafino can embrace such a risky way of balancing on the thin line connecting the Mediterranean tradition with the eternity of feelings, drawing the viewer into a world composed not only of dance but also of history. Music, costumes, movement through his art becomea universal language.”
